Procast are commencing a major internal upgrade programme to more than 150 social housing properties.
From now until December 2022, the company will refurbish 162 homes managed by West Granton Housing Co-operative in Edinburgh at a cost of £450,000.
The improvements will vary from property to property but include:
All properties included in the project will be fully occupied for the duration of the contract, so all works will have to be carefully coordinated and carried out safely to ensure as little inconvenience as possible is caused to the tenants.
At the close of each day, all works will be made safe and all services restored.
Procast intend to complete and hand back the properties to the clients and to the occupants at the rate of eight per calendar week.
The work for WGHC – who are responsible for hundreds of properties across north Edinburgh – is very similar to Procast’s ongoing internal refurbishment project for Queens Cross Housing Association in Glasgow and upgrade programmes for South Ayrshire Council.
It is being headed up by John Patrick, assisted by Martyna Munro commercially and Kevin Kozicki operationally.
A Procast spokesman said: “We are thoroughly delighted to have been awarded this internal upgrade contract by West Granton Housing Co-op.
“It is our first time working with WGHC and is a relationship we are keen to build on and solidify.
“We will use our extensive and recent experiences of delivering similar, fast-paced, multi-trade refurbishment projects to ensure works are delivered to the correct quality within the agreed timescales.
“At this time, we have seven other contracts running concurrently in which we are carrying out residential multi-trade refurbishment works, including kitchen replacement, bathroom replacement, rewiring, new central heating systems, window replacement and decoration.
“And this is a side of the business that we intend to grow in a ‘steady fashion’ in the coming years and months.”
WGHC is a fully mutual, not-for-profit co-operative housing association providing affordable housing for rent in north Edinburgh.
