Scoring a Home run with church refurb

26th October 2020

A HOME run has been scored by Procast who have secured a significant contract to carry out a major refurbishment of a church in Central Scotland.

The project to give an all-new look to Home Church in Kirkintilloch got under way today (Monday, October 26, 2020) with the commencement of Phase One, which involves the main hall and which will run for the next seven weeks.

This will involve the construction of a new stage, the removal of existing division walls, works to the baptismal pool, new floor coverings, new lighting, new door openings, alterations to the heating system and fresh decoration.

The programme of works will then be picked up again after the turn of the year – on January 11, 2021 – with Phase Two, which, for the most part, will involve a new extension but will include further improvements to internal areas.

The extension will be of timber-frame construction with a single-ply flat roof and will feature aluminium windows and doors, the installation of an up-to-date boiler and new render finishing.

Works to the existing fabric of the overall building will comprise the installation of steel structures to support the newly formed walkway that will link to the extension area, the formation of a new bathroom and office facilities, the installation of new lighting systems, floor coverings and decoration throughout.

One of the challenges of this project will be to allow the church to continue to be accessible to its faithful flock during Phase One. This will involve the careful management of vehicle deliveries and movements and ensuring the entrance and exit points are kept clear.

This is the first project Procast have worked on with this client, and the company are mindful of their desire to be able to continue to serve a healthy local congregation in a homely style, hence their name.

Company Director Frank McManus, who will be heading up the programme – which has been put together by the Project Management team in partnership with the in-house Design Team – said: “We are delighted to have secured this contract.

“We are looking forward to working with Home Church to support their vision of increasing the capacity of their facilities in Kirkintilloch, which have been serving the community for around 26 years when the original building was constructed.

“On completion, the extended and remodelled facilities will provide a great space for the church and its community and continued growth.”
