The Project
The ACHA uninsulated properties project represented a significant undertaking in external wall insulation (EWI) installations across various rural and island locations.
The project encompassed multiple properties requiring comprehensive external renovations and energy efficiency improvements, with particular attention paid to occupied buildings housing residents with specific needs.
Overview
The Approach
The project demanded a diverse range of professional services, including specialised contractors and tradespersons.
Gas engineers performed flue extensions, whilst joiners managed roofline extensions and PVC installations. Roofers undertook tiling and roof extension works, working alongside plumbers who handled downpipe gutters and soil vent pipe modifications.
The core EWI installation team managed the primary insulation works and roughcasting, supported by specialist mastic applicators and fabricators who handled external window sills, gates, and fence remedial works.
Additional specialist services included Fibreglo for cavity extraction and refill operations, professional scaffolding teams, and satellite engineers to ensure minimal disruption to residents' services. Where necessary, existing boss render was removed to prepare surfaces properly for the new installations.
The Outcome
The completed works deliver substantial long-term benefits to residents, including improved thermal efficiency, reduced energy costs, and minimised future repair requirements. Upon project completion, comprehensive operation and maintenance manuals for both general maintenance and EWI systems were provided to the client, ensuring proper long-term care of the installations.
